With horse racing, a thriving arts community, beautiful parks, and a lively downtown, there are plenty of great places to eat in Saratoga Springs, NY.

A favorite with locals and tourists alike, Sushi Thai, has the best sushi in town. It boasts an extensive menu with dishes that both new and seasoned sushi and/or thai diners can enjoy. In addition to the main dishes, the thai iced tea and green tea ice cream are definitely worth a try. Call ahead on weekends and track season for reservations. Free public parking is nearby on the corner of Putnam St. & Phila, but finding a spot may be tricky.

Right on Broadway, Wheatfields is a lively place year round. It has bar and restaurant seating as well as patio seating in the nice weather. Due to its popularity, the service is sometimes slow, but the food is definitely worth the wait. Wheatfields also boasts an extensive wine list. Wheatfields is a great choice, whether for happy hour or a nice, sit-down meal. Reservations are recommended for track season.

Ravenous for Crepes

Ravenous specializes in sweet and savory crepes making it a tasty choice for either dinner or dessert. The atmosphere is very casual but don't let appearances deceive you. The food is excellent. In addition to the crepes, the pommes frites and dipping sauces are definitely worth a try. Individuals with back problems may wish to get an order to go rather than eat in as there is limited seating and they may find the unconventional seating uncomfortable. Reservations are not accepted.

Hattie's Restaurant for Southern and Louisiana Cuisine

Hattie's Restaurant has been in operation since 1938 and is well known for its southern fried chicken and other Southern and Louisiana cuisine. The main dining room and bar is open year round and there is extra patio seating in the summer. Hattie's chicken can also be found on restaurant row at the race track. The restaurant tends to be busy so reservations are recommended to avoid a long wait.

Circus Cafe for Mojitos and Karaoke

Circus Cafe is the best family restaurant in town. An extremely friendly and fun atmosphere, Circus Cafe offers typical American dining. A basket of popcorn is served when you sit down. For a fun dessert order the homemade cotton candy, though one order will be enough for the whole family. At night, Circus Care turns into a lively bar, often offering live music and karaoke. Their mojitos are especially popular. Though the restaurant is often busy, service is usually quick and patrons are seated quickly. Parking can be an issue. Aside from street parking there is a free public lot a block away at the corner of Railroad Place and Division St.

Cantina is located right on Broadway and is an excellent choice for Mexican food. Their chowder was voted #1 in the annual Saratoga chowder fest in 2008. Also check out their Taco Tuesday special for $2 tacos and $6 bucket of coronitas.
